Community Food Drive

We uphold it as truth that every single person has the most fundamental right to nourishment. It is the most basic foundational need on the path toward creating a good life. We work hard to promote policies that serve this end and the candidates who will bring them to fruition, but we also work to do what we can in this community to make that a reality today.

In partnership with the Nahant Democratic Town Committee, we run a food drive the first Saturday of every month. We work closely with area food pantries to ensure we meet nutritional needs while avoiding surplus and waste. The food pantries tell us what foods they need, and we in turn create flyers with this information that we distribute to shoppers as they enter the grocery store. On their way out, they make their donation. We collect 4000 – 7000 pounds of food at every drive.

The food drive runs from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM on the first Saturday of every month, and we provide the volunteers for the 12:00 – 3:00 PM shift, while the NDTC staffs the morning. We go to the Swampscott Market Basket four times a year, the Lynn Stop & Shop four times a year, the Salem Market Basket two times a year, and the Lynn Market Basket two times a year.

We are always looking for more volunteers to staff the drive and help us make a difference feeding our greater community. If you are available from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM on the following days and would like to join us in bettering our community, please send us an email at!
